Ben Armer joined the Duke Athletics staff in December, 2023 and serves as the Associate Director of Sports Performance/Head of Football Applied Sports Science.
Armer came to Durham after an eight-year tenure as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for football at Ball State University. His prior experience at the collegiate level includes stints at Western Michigan University and Miami (Ohio) University.
A native of Janesville, Wis., Armer lettered four seasons in football as a punter at Western Michigan, twice earning All-Mid-American Conference honors. He finished his career with a 40.4 yards per punt average with 35 boots of 50-plus yards exited the program ranking among the school’s top five leaders in both total punts (208) and punting average.
Armer graduated from Western Michigan in 2012 with a degree in exercise science. He later earned a master’s degree in exercise science and health promotions with a concentration in performance enhancement and injury prevention from Pennsylvania Western University in 2022.
