Robo Williams joined Duke’s athletic staff in January 2022, and serves as an assistant director of sports performance, working primarily with the football program.
Williams comes to Durham after a one-year stint (2021) as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for football at the United States Military Academy (Army West Point). During his time there, the Black Knights compiled a 9-4 record, including a 24-22 victory over Missouri in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl. Williams assisted Army West Point with its strength programming but also helped with the coordination of the speed and agility conditioning for skill players.
He joined the Black Knights staff after a brief time as an assistant football strength and conditioning coach at the University of Toledo. While with the Rockets, he assisted with the coordination and implementation of the strength and conditioning program and monitored student-athlete nutrition, worked closely with the athletic training staff.
Prior to his time at Toledo, Williams had stints at Cincinnati (2020) and Robert Morris (2019) as a strength and conditioning intern. In addition, he also worked at the Center for Active Spine Health as an exercise physiologist in 2017, assisting the physical therapists with exercises for injured patients.
Williams earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and health from Miami University in 2014 and was a two-year member of the football program, earning a letter in 2012. He added a master’s degree in exercise science from Ohio Dominican University in 2015, and finished his collegiate career playing one year for the Panthers in 2014.
Williams holds a certification as a strength and conditioning specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). In addition, he is CPR/AED certified.
