Upcoming Event: Football versus Illinois on September 6, 2025 at 12 p.m.

Norrid has more than 20 years of coaching experience, three BCS National Championships, three SEC Championships, a Conference USA Championship and a Sun Belt Conference Championship.
His first year at Duke was notable for his quick work over the summer and during fall camp. The Blue Devil offensive line was decimated in the spring of 2024 and did not return to full strength until transfer additions arrived over the summer. Duke returned just two starters from 2023 in Justin Pickett and Brian Parker II. Center Matt Craycraft had one career start at Duke before the 2024 campaign. The line’s other two starters – Bruno Fina and Caleb Krings – arrived as transfers over the summer.Â
Despite the many new faces, the 2024 Duke offensive line ranked second in the ACC, and tied for ninth nationally, in fewest sacks allowed per game (0.92). Duke did not yield a sack in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl to an Ole Miss team that entered the contest averaging 4.33 sacks per game. Krings and Parker II ended the season earning Second Team All-ACC accolades. Norrid’s work with Parker II allowed him to finish 2024 with the sixth-highest pass blocking grade by Pro Football Focus (PFF) among Power 4 student-athletes who played at least 80 percent of the team’s snaps. Craycraft finished No. 27 in the same rankings.Â
As a whole, PFF ranked Duke’s 2024 offensive line at No. 3 among Power 4 programs in pass blocking efficiency, a rating that measures pressure allowed on a per-snap basis with weighting toward sacks allowed.
Norrid came to Durham after a three-year stint (2021-23) as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator at the University of Louisiana. In two of his three seasons in Lafayette, La., Norrid helped Louisiana rank in the top-50 nationally in scoring and rushing offense. Additionally, he helped the Ragin’ Cajuns post a 25-15 overall record with three consecutive bowl appearances and the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Championship.
In each of his three seasons, Norrid’s offensive line ranked in the top-five in the Sun Belt in tackles for loss allowed, rushing offense and sacks allowed. In 2023, Louisiana finished second in the conference in tackles for loss allowed, giving up just 5.31 per game. Additionally, the Ragin’ Cajuns ranked third in rushing offense (175.69) and fifth in sacks allowed per game (1.92).
Norrid mentored five players to All-Sun Belt Conference honors during his tenure, including right tackle Max Mitchell, who garnered All-America nods in 2021. Mitchell anchored an offensive line unit in his final season that was named a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award. According to PFF, Mitchell allowed just 13 pressures in 859 snaps that season and was tabbed as the highest-graded tackle in the nation, making him the PFF Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year. Mitchell went on to be selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the New York Jets.
Prior to his time at Louisiana, Norrid served three seasons on staff at Florida Atlantic University as an offensive analyst (2018) before being elevated to the offensive line coach his final two years (2019-20). During his time with the Owls, Norrid mentored Junior Diaz and Brandon Walton to First Team All-Conference USA honors, while also helping Marquice Robinson to Freshman All-Conference USA accolades.
In his final campaign in Boca Raton, the Owls’ offensive line blocked for a rushing unit that finished fourth in Conference USA, averaging 180.1 yards per game. The year prior, the line aided in just the fifth 2,000-yard season (2,324) by a rushing unit in program history and helped produce 32 rushing scores. In 2019, PFF ranked the Owls’ offensive line as the 50th best in the nation and the
No. 17 pass-blocking unit.
Norrid joined the Owls after spending one year as a college football research analyst for ESPN in 2017. While with the network, he helped create weekly matchup analysis and broadcast notes for ABC, ESPN and SEC Network primetime crews.
Prior to his time at ESPN, Norrid spent two seasons (2015-16) on staff as an offensive analyst at Auburn University under head coach Gus Malzahn. While with the Tigers, he worked with the fullbacks.
Before joining the Auburn staff, Norrid served six seasons (2009-14) as an offensive analyst at the University of Alabama, working with offensive coordinators Jim McElwain (2009-11), Doug Nussmeier (2012-13) and Lane Kiffin (2014). While with the Crimson Tide, Norrid was part of Alabama’s three national championship and SEC championship teams.
Norrid began his coaching career at the University of Arkansas, where he a served as a student assistant coach for two seasons (2003-04) before being elevated to an offensive graduate assistant from 2005-08. He worked in a variety of roles with the Razorbacks, assisting with the development of the offensive line and tight ends and working as a quality control assistant with special teams. Norrid also helped in recruiting at Arkansas, focusing on junior college prospects from Arkansas, Alabama and Texas.
A native of Fort Smith, Ark., Norrid graduated with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Arkansas in 2004. He earned his master’s degree from the institution in workforce development in 2006.
