Dan Hicks joined the Duke coaching staff in July of 2020 and serves as a Football Analyst working primarily with the defense.
Hicks spent the 2019 season as a wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at American International College, where he helped freshman Kequan Jamison to All-Rookie Team honors. Hicks was also integral in improving AIC’s overall record that year to 4-6-1 after the team finished 1-8 the year prior. He also spent time assisting on special teams, working primarily with the kick/punt returners.Â
Prior to moving to Massachusetts, Hicks spent two seasons at his alma mater Harrison High School in Harrison, N.J., serving as the offensive coordinator (2017) and head coach (2018).Â
While at the helm of the Blue Tide program, Hicks mentored Mateo DeSosa to become the program’s first All-State quarterback in 30 years, along with setting single-season records in completions, passing yards, total yards. He also guided Chris Mendez to the school’s single-season reception record at 62.Â
Hicks concluded the year, leading Harrison to a 5-5 record, the program’s most successful season in the previous 30 years.Â
For three seasons from 2013-15, Hicks served as the offensive coordinator at Kearny High School in Kearny, N.J. While there, he assisted in posting one of the best records in program history at 4-6.Â
Hicks, Harrison, N.J., native graduated from Fairleigh Dickson University – Florham in 2013 with a degree in criminology and was a four-year letterwinner (2009-10-11-12) as an outside linebacker/safety with the Devils.Â
