Brandon Stegall joined Duke’s athletic staff in March 2023, and serves as an assistant director of sports performance, working primarily with the football program.
Stegall comes to Durham after spending seven seasons on staff at East Carolina University as an assistant strength and conditioning coach (2018-22) and a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach (2016-17). While with the Pirates, he worked primarily with the football program, assisting with the design and implementation of total body strength and conditioning programs.
He earned his professional start as a strength and conditioning intern at his alma mater Campbell University for a brief stint in 2016. During that short time, Stegall assisted the football, baseball, women’s lacrosse, track & field, and cheerleading programs.
Before becoming a strength and conditioning coach, Stegall served two years (2014-15) on the football staff at Campbell as a quality control and defensive assistant coach. He worked primarily with the defensive line (2014) and defensive backs (2015).
A native of Davidson, N.C., Stegall was a four-year member of the football program as a defensive back at Campbell, being tabbed a team captain his senior year. In his career, Stegall registered 52 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, nine passes defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. During his final campaign in 2013, he finished second on the team with 49 tackles.
Stegall earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science from Campbell in 2014. He added a master’s degree in exercise science from the University in 2016.
He holds a certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Additionally, he is CPR/AED and First Aid certified.
