In accordance with university policies, all undergraduate student and Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) registered organization tents must have one group member that has completed the Duke Social Host Training. Social Hosts are members of the Duke community that are required to be present at events where alcohol is present. Social Hosts are sober, active bystanders that assist in promoting safe, social behaviors to ensure that the event ends well for all those attending.
The training for 2022-23 includes new material and guidelines, so students who attended the Social Host workshop last year will need to attend again this year. Training is good for every event for the entire 2022-23 academic year.
Workshop Topics:
- New policies & guidelines for events involving alcohol
- Your role as a Social Host
- Potential risks associated with alcohol and other substance use
- Skills to address potentially dangerous and questionable behavior among your guests
