DURHAM, N.C. – Duke junior left-hander Graeme Stinson received Baseball America Preseason All-America honors, as announced by the publication Monday morning.
Stinson earned a spot on the first team as one of only three unanimous first-team selections, marking his fourth 2019 preseason All-America nod. The Norcross, Ga., native also earned a spot on the Collegiate Baseball second team and the Perfect/Game/Rawlings third team, before being named to the D1Baseball first team a week ago. He is one of only three ACC players to the Baseball America first team, joining Clemson’s Logan Davidson Jr. and North Carolina’s Michael Busch.
Stinson made 23 appearances and four starts as a sophomore in 2018, posting a 5-1 record and a 1.89 ERA. The 6-5 southpaw struck out 98 batters in 62.0 innings of work, averaging a team-best 14.3 strikeouts per nine innings. In his fourth start of the season, Stinson picked up the win over Texas Tech in the Lubbock Super Regional, tossing 6.0 scoreless innings, while allowing just five hits and striking out six.
Over the summer, Stinson was named to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, striking out 10 batters in six innings while scattering two hits and five walks across three appearances.
Entering the spring, Stinson is the fourth-rated player on Baseball America’s list Top 50 college prospects for the 2019 draft, and ranks as Perfect Game’s third-best collegiate junior.
Stinson and the Blue Devils are set to open the 2019 campaign Feb. 15-17 with a three-game series at home against Lehigh.
