WEST DES MOINS, Iowa – Former Duke two-time All-America Brittany Lang and the United States squad are set for the 2017 Solheim Cup that will take place Aug. 18-20 at Des Moines Golf and Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Lang, a 2004 and 2005 All-America at Duke, will compete in her fifth straight Solheim Cup. She owns a 5-6-3 overall record in the competition. The 2016 U.S. Women’s Open champion, Lang has received over six million in earnings since her rookie campaign in 2006.
The action will kick off Friday, Aug. 18 with foursome matches in the morning and four-ball matches in the afternoon. Saturday, Aug. 19 will feature the same schedule followed by 12 singles matches to conclude the event Sunday, Aug. 20.
Along with Lang on the 2017 United States squad are Lexi Thompson, Stacy Lewis, Gerina Piller, Cristie Kerr, Paula Creamer, Danielle Kang, Michelle Wie, Brittany Linciome, Lizette Salas, Austin Ernst and Angel Yin.
Competing for the Europe squad will be Anna Nordqvist, Caroline Masson, Emily Kristine Pedersen, Madelene Sagstrom, Georgia Hall, Florentyna Parker, Mel Reid, Jodi Ewart Shadoff, Carlota Ciganda, Suzann Pettersen, Charley Hull and Karine Icher.
With The Solheim Cup returning to U.S. soil this year, Team USA will try to retain the trophy in front of their home fans after staging the biggest come-from-behind victory in the event’s history to beat Europe 14.5-13.5 at Golf Club St. Leon-Rot in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany in 2015.
Fans will be able to follow the Solheim Cup via the Golf Channel and NBC at the following times – Aug. 17 from 6-7 p.m. (Opening Ceremony) on Golf Channel, Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. & 4-7 p.m. (Day 1 action) on Golf Channel, Aug. 18 from 2-4 p.m. (Day 1 action) on Golf Channel Digital, Aug. 19 from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. (Day 2 action) on Golf Channel and Aug. 20 from 12-4 p.m. (final day) on NBC.
The U.S. has won nine of the 14 previous editions of The Solheim Cup, including four of the last six.
