Upcoming Event: Men's Golf versus NCAA Regional on May 18, 2026

TORONTO – Former Blue Devil standout Marcus Stroman has been named the opening day starter for Toronto April 3 versus Tampa Bay as announced by Blue Jays’ manager John Gibbons Wednesday.
The Blue Jays selected Stroman in the first round (No. 22 overall) of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft. Stroman reached the big leagues two years later, making his first start May 31, 2014 against the Kansas City Royals. He became just the seventh Toronto rookie to strike out over 100 batters in a season. Over 20 starts, he went 10-6 with a 3.29 ERA and 1.147 WHIP.
The right-hander from Medford, N.Y., was slated to start opening day for the Blue Jays this past season, but suffered a torn ACL early in spring training. Stroman made it back for four starts in September, going 4-0 with a 1.67 ERA to become the first pitcher in modern MLB history to win his first four starts of the season in September for a first place team.
