DURHAM, N.C. – Duke redshirt senior safety Jeremy Cash added a second All-America honor to his season with a first team selection by CBS Sports on Wednesday night. Cash was also a first team USA Today selection on Tuesday.
Cash is the first Blue Devil in program history to receive CBS honors. In his career, Cash is now up to six All-America honors, one in 2013, three in 2014 and the two in 2015.
On Thursday evening, Cash will take part in the Home Depot College Football Awards show at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. Cash is one of three finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, presented to the best defensive back in the country.
A 6-2, 210-pound native of Miami, Fla., Cash owns 101 tackles, 18.0 tackles for lost yardage, 2.5 sacks, eight quarterback pressures, four pass breakups, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 2015. He is one of only three active players with three or more 100-tackle seasons.
Cash is ranked 12th in Duke history with 333 total tackles and sixth with 38.0 TFL. He is also the Blue Devils’ career leader in caused fumbles with nine.
