Upcoming Event: Track & Field versus ACC Outdoor Championships on May 14, 2026

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University Athletics and IMG College announced Tuesday that Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. will serve as the title sponsor for the Ameritas Insurance Classic, set for Madison Square Garden on Dec. 19.
The Ameritas Insurance Classic will pit reigning NCAA champion Duke, ranked fourth in the USA Today preseason coaches poll, against a Utah team ranked 16th in the coaches poll.
Ken VanCleave, president – group division of Ameritas, commented, “Ameritas is proud to sponsor the Ameritas Insurance Classic. We are excited to be a part of bringing together two great teams from two of the nation’s finest universities. These champion caliber teams are coming together for a classic college basketball game at Madison Square Garden, one of the premier sporting venues in the world.”
Duke defeated the Utes, 63-57, in the 2015 NCAA Sweet 16 en route to its fifth national championship. The Blue Devils lead the all-time series with Utah by a 3-1 count. The Ameritas Insurance Classic will be just the second regular-season meeting between the two programs.
“We try to put ourselves in an outstanding non-conference schedule based on some elite events,” Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “Each year, we play one of our games in New York and for the most part, we’ve played in Madison Square Garden. It’s an electric atmosphere. We’ll be playing against an outstanding Utah team in a great venue, and that’s terrific for our team’s development.”
Tickets for the Ameritas Insurance Classic go on sale Friday, Oct. 30, at noon ET and start at $35. They can be purchased at the Madison Square Garden box office, all Ticketmaster locations and online at thegarden.com.
