Duke in the NBA Update: All-Star Game on Horizon

DURHAM, N.C. - With the NBA All-Star game approaching, Kyrie Irving and Luol Deng will represent their teams in the game in Houston. Irving continues his terrific season, scoring 30 or more points in four of his past six games, while Carlos Boozer continues to be among the leaders in double-doubles. JJ Redick posted a strong month in January, highlighted by a 31-point game against the Pistons on Jan. 27.

Shane Battier
Forward - Miami Heat
Drafted: 1st Round (6th pick) by the Memphis Grizzlies (2001)
2012-13 Stats: 39 games, 5.6 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 0.7 APG, 0.4 SPG, 0.9 BPG
Battier continues to have success this season for the Heat. Battier began the month of February by registering 11 points in a 102-89 loss to the Indiana Pacers. In the game, Battier's three-of four field goals came from beyond the arc. The 11th-year pro had four consecutive games with two or more blocks. He ranks in the top-20 in the league in three-pointers made per 48 minutes played, as well as in the top-50 in blocks per 48 minutes.

Elton Brand

Brand has continued his solid play into the month of February, recording 10 rebounds in two games this month. In a 110-95 win over the Suns on Jan. 27, Brand scored 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Brand continues to shine as a shot blocker this season, including a four block game over Phoenix in his first game in February. Brand is ranked in the top-25 in the league in blocks with 57.

Carlos Boozer
Forward - Chicago Bulls

Boozer was sidelined three games with a hamstring injury, but returned to the Bulls lineup on Feb. 4 in a 111-101 Bulls loss against the Pacers. In his return, Boozer finished the game with 10 points. The 10-year pro finished the month of January scoring in double figures in 14 of 15 games. Boozer ranks fifth in the NBA with 24 double-doubles on the year, as well as ranking 13th in rebounds per game.

Luol Deng
Forward - Chicago Bulls

Chicago's leading scorer this season, Deng has been rewarded for his terrific season with his second consecutive NBA All-Star Game selection later this month in Houston, Texas. Deng returned to the Bulls lineup after missing five games with a hamstring injury. It did not take long for the eight-year pro to acclimate himself to the lineup. Deng recorded his sixth double-double of the year in his second game back, with 12 points and 13 rebounds in a 104-88 Bulls win over Milwaukee. In a game on Feb. 2, Deng scored a game-high 25 points, while dishing five assists and four blocked shots in the game. Deng leads the NBA in minutes played per game at 39.6.

Chris Duhon
Guard - Los Angeles Lakers

Duhon continues to play an important role for the Lakers off the bench this season playing solid defense and minimizing turnovers. Duhon, who ranks fourth in the NBA in assists per turnover at 3.71, is averaging less than one turnover per game at 0.89. In a game on Jan. 25 against the Jazz, Duhon dished six assists. He has recorded 10 or more assists in 10 games this season.

Mike Dunleavy

In a game on Jan. 29, Dunleavy scored 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor in a 117-90 win over the Pistons. Dunleavy ranks fourth in the NBA in three-point field goal percentage at .440. Dunleavy is the third leading scorer for the Bucks this season, averaging 11.3 points per game.

Gerald Henderson
Guard - Charlotte Bobcats

Henderson has scored in double figures in each of the three games he has played in the month of February, scoring 15 points in a 109-95 loss to the Rockets. In the game, Henderson finished 5-of-8 from the floor and made each of his five free-throws. Henderson ranks in the top-50 in the league in free-throw percentage and has missed just one foul shot in his past eight games.

Grant Hill

Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving will make the first NBA All-Star Game appearance of his career later this month in Houston, Texas, as the second-year pro continues his terrific play this season. Irving played a pivotal role in the Cavs three game winning streak, scoring at least 30 points in wins over Boston (40), Milwaukee (35) and Toronto (32). In the game against the Raptors, Irving hit a straight away three with less than one second on the clock to win the game for the Cavs, 99-98. One night earlier in a 113-108 win over the Bucks, Irving tallied the last six points of the game to seal the victory for the Cavs. Earlier this week, Irving scored a game-high 35 points in a 115-110 win over the Thunder, scoring 13 of the final 15 points of the game for the Cavs. Irving currently ranks sixth in the NBA in scoring with 23.9 points per game this season.

Dahntay Jones
