Upcoming Event: Rowing at Rocky Top Invitational on April 3, 2026 at All Day

Senior Jessica Lyden earned the second All-ACC Academic Team honors of her career, while graduate student Piotr Safronczyk, junior Ted Minturn and sophomore Christine Wixted each garnered the first accolades of their careers. Duke has now placed at least four student-athletes on the team for six consecutive seasons.
The 2012 ACC champion in the women's 3-meter diving event, Lyden picked up her second All-ACC Academic Team honor. The Lexington, Ky., native closed out her collegiate career with a ninth-place showing on the 3-meter board at the 2012 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships. Lyden notched personal-best scores of 325.45 in 1-meter diving and 365.95 on the 3-meter board during the 2011-12 season while gaining admission to the NCAA Zone Diving meet on both disciplines.
Wixted collected the first All-ACC Academic Team accolade of her career after finishing the season as Duke's top performer in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and the 200 IM. A two-time ACC Performer of the Week during the regular season, she established new program records in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and earned a pair of All-ACC honors at the 2012 ACC Championships with third-place finishes in both of those events. Wixted, who hails from Greenwood Village, Colo., also helped the Blue Devils break three school records as a member of the 400 free, 200 medley and 400 medley relay squads.
Minturn, a mid-freestyle and backstroke specialist from Indianapolis, Ind., was also honored for the first time in his career. The Blue Devils' top performer in the 200 backstroke this season, Minturn took fourth in the event at the 2012 ACC Championships. He also clocked the program's second-best time of the season in the 200 freestyle as a member of Duke's 800 freestyle relay team.
Safronczyk was selected to the All-ACC Academic Team after completing a standout season at Duke. The Bialystok, Poland native garnered honorable mention All-America honors with a 15th-place finish in the 100 breaststroke at the 2012 NCAA Div. I Men's Swimming & Diving Championships. He won the ACC title in the 100 breaststroke, in addition to collecting All-ACC honors in the 200 breaststroke with a second-place performance. The program record holder in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, Safronczyk was also a valuable member of the Blue Devils' relay squads, helping the 200 medley and 400 medley relay teams earn podium finishes at the ACC Championships and set school records. He swam the breaststroke leg of the 200 medley relay team that established a new Atlantic Coast Conference record with a 1:25.98 clocking.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for both the previous semester and maintain a 3.00 cumulative average during his or her academic career.
