Duke Hosts Stanford
• The Blue Devils (0-1) will host No. 6 Stanford (1-0) on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 3:30 p.m. in Wallace Wade Stadium. Duke is coming off a 23-21 loss at home to Richmond in its season opener while Stanford kicked off the year with a 57-3 home win over San Jose State.
• Saturday’s game will be televised on ESPNU with Clay Matvick (Play-by-Play), Brian Griese (Analyst) and Allison Williams (Sideline) calling the action. The game can also be heard on the Blue Devil IMG Sports Network with Bob Harris (Play-by-Play), Wes Chesson (Analyst) and Anthony Dilweg (Sideline) providing the commentary.
Duke Hall of Fame Weekend
Duke University will enshrine five new members into the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, September 9. Slated for induction are Ben Bennett (football), Jenny Chuasiriporn (golf), Bobby Hurley (basketball),
Mike Krzyzewski (coach) and Vanessa Webb (tennis).
Blue Devils Drop Season Opener
• On opening weekend, Duke fell to Richmond, 23-21, in Wallace Wade Stadium. The Blue Devils outgained the Spiders, 379-288, in total offense but two lost fumbles led to 10 second-quarter points for the Spiders.
• Duke’s running back duo of
Juwan Thompson and
Desmond Scott combined to rush for 166 yards on 26 carries. Thompson averaged 5.7 yards per carry and Scott averaged 7.3 yards per attempt with a 29-yard touchdown in the contest.
• The Blue Devils had three rushing touchdowns in the game. Scott had the first score of the year for Duke while reserve quarterbacks
Brandon Connette and
Anthony Boone also each had a rushing touchdown.
• Junior wide receiver
Conner Vernon led the receiving unit with eight catches for 78 yards. Quarterback
Sean Renfree threw for 201 yards on 23-of-33 passing.
• The Blue Devil defense held Richmond to 95 rushing yards on 31 attempts.
• Senior safety
Matt Daniels tied a school single-game record with six pass breakups to go with nine tackles.

• Duke owns an all-time record of 23-126-6 vs. nationally-ranked opponents (AP poll) including a 10-54-4 mark against teams ranked in the top 10
• Duke’s last win over a ranked foe came in the form of a 28-25 decision over Virginia on Nov. 5, 1994
• The Blue Devils’ last victory over a top-10 club came on Sept. 30, 1989 with a 21-17 win over Clemson

• Duke opened up the 2011 season at home with a crowd of 32,741. The announced attendance was just shy of capacity of 33,941.
• Since Cutcliffe took over the program in 2008, Duke has recorded single-game attendance of at least 30,000 in 12 games after Duke reached the mark just three times the previous seven seasons.
