BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA -- Duke sophomore Tim Gornik posted a final round 75 to finish tied for 45th with an 11-over 225 (77-73-75) at the World Amateur Team Championship. He was the low-man in all three rounds for Slovenia, leading his country to a 47th place finish in the 70-team field.
Gornik began the third round on Saturday by playing the opening nine holes at one-under before play was halted. After a bogey on his opening hole, the par 3 10th, he birdied No. 11 and No. 12 to get to one-under. He closed the opening nine holes with six pars. When play resumed on Sunday, Gornik battled heavy winds en route to five-over 41 on the closing nine holes.
France won the Eisenhower Trophy by finishing with a seven-under 423. Denmark placed second at three-under 427 with the United States finishing third at two-under 428.
Denmark's Joachim Hansen claimed medalist honors with a six-under 209, three strokes better than Alexander Levy (France). Romain Wattel (France) placed third at two-under while five players, including Peter Uihlein and David Chung of the United States, finished tied for fourth.
