Upcoming Event: Track & Field versus NCAA East Regionals on May 27, 2026

DURHAM, N.C. - Coming off a combined 6-3 showing at the season-opening Penn Invitational, the Duke men's and women's fencing teams will continue the 2010 season this Saturday at the Penn State Duals in State College, Pa., where they will both face defending NCAA Champion Penn State.
The Duke men's team, which brings a 3-1 record into the weekend, will also take on Haverford and Penn while the women (3-2) take on those three squads plus Temple. The Duke men's team is ranked 10th nationally in the most recent USFCA Coaches Poll while the women's team is receiving votes in the women's poll. Penn State has held the No. 1 spot in the poll since they began their run to the 2009 NCAA Championship.
Duke fencing will also join up with 14 other Duke teams in a national fundraising effort titled "Save Haiti Saturday" to aid in the nation's earthquake recovery efforts. Beginning with Duke's men's basketball contest at Clemson on Saturday night (ESPN, 9:00 PM ET), the 15 Duke teams currently in competition will display "Save Haiti Saturday" patches in the upcoming weeks to maintain high awareness for the relief effort in Haiti.
Three Duke graduates, including former Duke men's basketball manager and current Miami Heat Vice President of Basketball Operations Nick Arison (Duke '03), along with Jenna Green (Duke '08) and Doug Rosenberg (Duke '07) spearheaded the "Save Haiti Saturday" initiative.
"Save Haiti Saturday" is primarily an awareness campaign that benefits Project Medishare for Haiti, Inc. That organization collaborates with Partners in Health (PIH), one of the organizations through which Duke is coordinating its Haitian fundraising relief efforts. Duke alumnus, Dr. Paul Farmer, founded PIH and currently serves as the United Nations Deputy Special Envoy to Haiti.

Junior All-America foil Dorian Cohen and freshman saber Anthony Lin lead the team with matching 10-2 records while saber David Eitel and foil Eliot Cohen both opened the year with 9-3 records. Foil Andrew Simon (8-4) and all four members of the epee team also boast winning records to start the year. Sophomore Epees Jonathan Parker and Tristan Jones both lead their group with 7-4 records.
Duke's women's roster boasts defending NCAA Women's Saber Champion Becca Ward, who opened her sophomore campaign with a 15-0 record. Her effort led Duke's saber team to a 5-0 record and made her one of four Blue Devils with double-digit wins to open the year. Fellow saber Sean Cadley started with a 10-5 record while foil Keara Mageras opened with a 10-3 slate and Emily D'Agostino started 10-5 as well. All three of those Blue Devils are freshmen.
While Duke's women's saber squad started out 5-0, the foil squad also posted a 4-1 record at the Penn Invitational while the epee squad went 3-2. The foil team is led by Mageras, Lily Shepard (8-2) and senior captain Noel Shaskan (8-3)
The Penn State Duals mark the first of three straight weekend competitions for Duke. That streak continues on Jan. 30-31 at Northwestern and ends on Feb. 6-7 at the Duke Home Meet in Card Gym on the West Campus of Duke University.
