DURHAM, N.C. - GoDuke.com sat down with freshman linebacker Kevin Rojas on Saturday afternoon to talk about what talent he has and where me moved from during his sophomore year of high school.
Kevin Rojas Q&A
GoDuke.com: Why Did You Choose Duke?
Kevin Rojas: It was really just a combination of athletics and academics. When you add Coach Cutcliffe and his staff that is here at Duke it is really just an opportunity as a football player and a student that you can't pass up.
GD: Any Brothers or Sisters?
KR: I have one older sister who is 23 who graduated from Baylor. Now she lives in Nashville and works for Warner Brothers record label doing marketing for artists over there.
GD: What number did you wear in high school?
KR: I wore No. 8 which was my number throughout life in every sport in football, basketball and baseball. It is just the number I had since I was four when I started playing soccer. There is an "8" in my current number so it is all good.
GD: What sport would you play besides football?
KR: My other favorite sport is baseball. I follow it a lot and I really like it. I played in high school up until my freshman year and it runs in my family.
GD: What was your favorite NFL team and player growing up?
KR: Definitely the Chicago Bears. I grew up in Chicago and lived there until my sophomore year or high school. My favorite player would probably be Hines Ward.
GD: What websites do you visit most?
KR: Facebook and the Chicago Cubs home page on ESPN. Also pages for the Bulls and the Bears so I can check up on my teams.
GD: What do you like to do outside of football?
KR: I like to read. I like American literature and entertainment books like John Grisham. I love movies and have a passion for film so I like going to movies a lot. Mostly I enjoy just hanging out with my family.
GD: Who is your roommate this year?
KR: Jack Farrell
GD: After football what job would you like to have?
KR: After football I would like to go to law school. I am thinking either sports law or corporate law.
GD: Any talents besides football?
KR: I am a singer. A lot of people don't know that. My sister is a singer too so it runs in the family.
