Upcoming Event: Track & Field at Mt. SAC Relays on April 15, 2026

DURHAM, N.C. - GoDuke.com sat down with freshman quarterback Sean Schroeder to discuss his move from California to North Carolina and what he likes to do away from football.
Sean Schroeder Q&A
GoDuke.com: Why Did You Choose Duke?
Sean Schroeder: Obviously the education was a big selling point. That was probably No. 1 and then secondly when you look at the football aspect with Coach (David) Cutcliffe and Coach (Kurt) Roper I just saw it as a good fit for me. I felt like Duke was a great place to be.
GD: How has the transition been from the West to the East?
SS: It has actually been pretty smooth. I haven't had too many problems. I have gone right with the flow and got into a routine here. We have a lot of good guys on this team who have made the transition very easy.
GD: Any Brothers or Sisters?
SS: I have one older sister who went to school at Elon.
GD: What number did you wear in high school?
SS: No. 12 ... there is no significance to the number I just liked it and kept it here.
GD: What sport would you play besides football?
SS: Basketball ... I like watching and playing basketball.
GD: What was your favorite NFL team and player growing up?
SS: Definitely the San Diego Chargers and I would have to say my favorite NFL player was Tom Brady.
GD: What websites do you visit most?
SS: Facebook and other than that ESPN.com.
GD: What do you like to do outside of football?
SS: I like to listen to music and I love to golf. I haven't had much time to golf since being here but I like to play whenever I can and watch it on TV.
GD: Who is your roommate this year?
SS: Conner Vernon
GD: After football what job would you like to have?
SS: I am not sure right now. I am just going to go to school and I am thinking about majoring in political science right now. That is my preliminary thought.
