DURHAM, N.C. ? GoDuke.com recently sat down with safety Adrian Aye-Darko for his senior profile. Aye-Darko, a native of Stevenson Ranch, Calif., discusses who has made the biggest impact on his life, his favorite aspect of Duke, what he admires most about Coach David Cutcliffe, plus much more.
GoDuke.com: What do you have in your iPod before a game?
Adrian Aye-Darko: Jay-Z, Nas, Young Jeezy, Fabulous or The Game.
GD: Why do you wear No. 28?
AAD: Because it was better than my first numbers: 46 and 39.
GD: Who is your roommate?
AAD: Jabari Marshall.
GD: Who is your favorite actor?
AAD: Denzel Washington.
GD: What is your best non-athletic talent?
AAD: Acting.
GD: If you could have dinner with four people from history (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
AAD: Martin Luther King, Jr. and Barack Obama because they changed the world for the better and made history. Also my grandfather and grandmother because I’ve never met them.
GD: Who has had the most impact on your life and why?
AAD: My parents because they gave me all of my morals, values and work ethic.
GD: What is your favorite aspect of Duke University and why?
AAD: The people. They are all good, quality, special people.
GD: What is the thing you most admire about Coach Cutcliffe and why?
AAD: His leadership, motivational skills, attention to detail in the pursuit of excellence, morals, values and sense of humor.
GD: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
AAD: Be present in everything you do.
