Former Team Canada member and Duke offensive lineman Chris Best was selected in the first round, the fourth pick overall, on Thursday by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Best, a Calgary, Canada native, started nine games for the Blue Devils last season. Saskatchewan finished 9-9 last season and reached the CFL playoffs.
Prior to arriving at Duke, Best helped Team Canada reach the finals of the Global Junior Championships in Tampa, Fla. Team Canada fell in the finals to the United States, 21-19. As a senior in high school, Best helped Western Canada to a 9-1 record, the Calgary city crown and a semifinal berth in the provincial playoffs.
