RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - The All-Atlantic Coast Conference team turned into an all-state squad.
Led by Duke's J.J. Redick - the only unanimous selection - the first team released Monday came from North Carolina schools, with Redick joined by teammate Shelden Williams in voting by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.
Sean May and Raymond Felton from North Carolina were also selected, as was Wake Forest's Chris Paul. Eleven of the 15 players named to the three teams came from the state, as well.
Redick averaged an ACC-best 22.5 points for the Blue Devils and was picked for the first team on all 121 ballots. He was a second-team pick in 2003-04.
"I've said all along, he's the best player in the ACC," Miami Hurricanes coach Frank Haith said. "He should be the MVP of the league."
Williams led the conference in rebounding (11.1 per game) and blocked shots (3.8), and averaged nearly 16 points. As Redick, Williams was a second-team selection in 2003-04.
Ewing's third team selection marks the first of his career as he has been the leader of Duke's team and playing a different role than he has in the past. Ewing was the 2003 ACC Tournament MVP after leading Duke to its fifth straight ACC Championship as a freshman.
Duke opens the 2005 ACC Touranment Friday at 9 p.m. at the MCI Center in Washington, DC, and will play the winner of Thursday's match-up between Miami and Virginia.
