DURHAM, N.C.-- Senior Kristina Engstrom has been selected the Golf World Women's College Player of the Week after leading the Blue Devils to a 29-point victory at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic last Saturday.
Engstrom, a native of Djursholm, Sweden, had a career-best three-day total of one-under 215 to earn medalist honors. It marked her third career individual victory and first of the 2002-03 season. Engstrom owns a 74.83 stroke average in four tournaments played in this season.
As a team, Duke moved back in the top spot in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index after the victory at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. The Duke women's golf team is the fifth Duke team to be ranked No. 1 this season-- women's basketball, women's tennis, women's lacrosse and men's basketball.
Duke will next travel to the Lady Gamecock Classic on Mar. 14 in Columbia, S.C.
