Duke senior Jordan Cila was selected to the Academic All-District III men's soccer team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Cila, a midfielder/forward from Jericho, N.Y., is second on the team and tied for second in the ACC with eight assists this year. He ranks fifth all-time at Duke with 35 assists and 11th with 95 points. He is a two-time All-America selection by the Jewish Sports Review and a two-time second team All-ACC honoree.
A leader on and off the field, Cila is serving as a co-captain for the Blue Devils this year. He has a 3.525 grade point average in sociology with a markets and management certificate and is working to complete his honor's thesis. Cila is a three-time ACC Honor Roll member.
Cila is one of three ACC soccer players to be named to the Academic All-District III first team. Clemson midfielder Paul Souders and Wake Forest goalkeeper William Hesmer were also named to the team, which will represent District III on the Academic All-America ballot.
The Academic All-District III first team members are: Jordan Cila (Duke), Josh Foltz (East Carolina), Joseph Ngwenya (Coastal Carolina), Donald MacGregor (Winthrop), Peer Rogge (Virginia Tech), Paul Souders (Clemson), Brian Malec (Central Florida), Lasse Mertins (Virginia Tech), Justin Porter (Davidson), Todd Ulrich (Gardner-Webb) and William Hesmer (Wake Forest).
