DURHAM, N.C. (APril 1) - Andres Pedroso picked up his 100th career singles victory while leading third-ranked Duke to a 7-0 win over visiting Florida State in ACC men's tennis action on April 1 in Durham, N.C.
The Blue Devils, winners of 15 straight home matches, improve to 14-3 overall and 5-0 in the ACC while the Seminoles fall to 9-10 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
Duke swept the doubles competition to pick up the doubles point.
Ramsey Smith then defeated Xavier Luscan, 6-0, 6-1, in less than an hour at number one singles for a 2-0 Blue Devil lead. At number six singles, Michael Yani posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over Jeff Scarella and Marko Cerenko clinched the win with a straight-set victory over Romain Jurd at number two singles.
After Joel Spicher and Alex Bose earned straight-set wins at numbers four and five singles, respectively, Pedroso outlasted Bartosz Koldej, 6-0, 5-7, 6-1 for his 27th win of the year and the 100th of his career. Pedroso becomes just the eighth Blue Devil ever to reach the 100-win plateau.
Duke has now won 38 straight matches in ACC regular season play.
The Blue Devils remain at home to host N.C. State on Wednesday while Florida State hosts Georgia Tech on Friday.
