Kaiser, Walters, Rack Up Preseason Honors
DURHAM, N.C. – Junior Kate Kaiser and sophomore Meghan Walters each earned
their second honor of the preseason when the LaxPower.com Preseason
All-America team was named last week. Kaiser was named to the first team,
while Walters earned honorable mention.
Kaiser (Cockeysville, MD) was one of five midfielders named to the first team after a sophomore campaign of a team-leading 41 goals. Along with her 41 goals, she notched five assists to tie her for a team-best 46 points last season. The Maryland native also led the team in shot percentage (.539) and minutes played (933.27), scoring at least once in every contest. Kaiser was honored last month with a spot on the CLUSA.com Preseason All-America first team.
Also earning recognition with honorable mention was Walters (Wyndmoor, PA), a defender who notched four goals and an assist while playing in every Blue Devil contest last season. Walters was named IWLCA third team All-America in 2000, as she placed third on the Blue Devils in forced turnovers with 27. The sophomore from Pennsylvania joined Kaiser on the CLUSA.com Preseason All-America first team announced lat month.
The Blue Devils kick off their preseason when they co-host the South of the Border Tournament with the University of North Carolina on February 17. Duke opens up regular season action in Koskinen Stadium on February 27 at 4:00 pm against Virginia Tech.
