Chicago's Brand Named Schick Rookie Of The Month For January
NEW YORK (Feb. 2) -- Elton Brand of the Chicago Bulls, who led all
rookies in scoring and rebounds last month, today was named Schick Rookie
of the Month for games played in January.
Brand averaged 21.4 points, 12.0 rebounds and ranked second among rookie leaders with 1.29 steals per game for the month. He shot .515 (123-for-239) from the field while averaging 38.9 minutes per game.
The first selection in the 1999 NBA Draft, Brand started all 14 games in January as the Bulls finished the month with a 6-8 record. He is currently leading the team in scoring (18.2 ppg) and rebounding (10.1 rpg, 7th in NBA). Brand ranks ninth among all NBA players with 20 double-doubles for the season.
Brand recorded 28 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in an 83-82 win over Indiana on January 24. His 24 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks on January 18 in Miami helped Chicago defeat the Heat, 92-85.
