Duke Opens ACC Play Against Wake Forest and NC State

DURHAM, N.C. – Following a successful non-conference slate, Duke volleyball opens ACC play this weekend with a pair of in-state matchups as it travels to Wake Forest on Friday and NC State on Sunday.

Duke (8-2) is off to its best 10-match start since 2023, when the Blue Devils also opened the season 8-2.

The First Serve
Duke wrapped up its non-conference schedule last weekend in Indianapolis, defeating Butler 3-1 and falling to LIU 3-2.

Nataly Moravec had a big weekend for the Blue Devils, finishing with 46 kills. She averaged 5.11 kills per set, 5.50 points per set and recorded a career-high 28 kills Saturday against LIU while hitting .345. As a team, Duke also had an efficient weekend offensively by hitting .296 and recording nearly 13 kills per set.

After Friday's victory over Butler, Duke moved to a perfect 3-0 in true road matches this year.

This Friday, Duke will look to open ACC play with a win for the third consecutive year. Last season, the Blue Devils defeated NC State 3-1 inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.

By the Numbers
• Nikki Quinn ranks first in the ACC in assists per set with 11.33. She has dished out 32-plus assists in every match this season and set a career high with 55 against Marshall (9/11).
• The Blue Devils rank sixth nationally in assists per set with 13.53.
• Duke has been impressive from the service line this season, ranking first in the ACC and eighth nationally in aces per set at 2.33. Duke's 84 total aces are first in the conference.
• Ahen Kim's eight wins before ACC play are the most by a fist-year Duke coach since the conference began sponsoring women's volleyball beginning with the 1981 season.
• The Blue Devils' attack ranks eighth in the NCAA this year with 14.42 kills per set. Duke is hitting .301, which is third in the ACC and 12th in the country.
• Moravec ranks 19^th nationally and third in the ACC in kills per set with 4.34. In points per set, she ranks fourth in the ACC at 4.34. Ashby Zubchevich is right behind in points per set at 4.00, which is fifth in the conference.

Scouting Wake Forest
• Wake Forest enters ACC play on a four-match winning streak. Last weekend, The Demon Deacons defeated NC A&T and Wofford. The previous weekend, Wake Forest beat Georgia Southern and ETSU.
• Ryleigh Whitekettle leads the team with 133 kills and 153 points.
• Lyla Stewart – 99 kills – paces Wake Forest in kills per set with 2.83.
• Starting libero Andrea Roman tops the Demon Deacons and the ACC with 201 digs so far this season. Her total ranks 39th in the country.

Scouting NC State
• The Wolfpack finished their nonconference slate with a 9-2 record, including a perfect 5-0 mark at home.
• Last time out, NC State defeated Coastal Carolina 3-2 in Conway.
• Freshman Britni Silver leads the Wolfpack in total kills (156) and kills per set (3.71). She has double-digit kills in all but one match this season. She had a career-high 25 against Wofford on Sept. 5.
• Talia Francom has been impressive at the net in 2026, as she leads the ACC and ranks 10th nationally in blocks per set with 1.55. Her 62 total blocks rank second in the ACC and 13th in the country.
