HOUSTON, Texas – Following an impressive career with the Blue Devils, recent Duke women's soccer graduate
Kat Rader has signed her first professional contract with the Houston Dash of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).
Rader, who is from Stuart, Florida, signed with the Dash through the 2028 season and will be reunited with former Duke All-America selection
Maggie Graham, who recently finished her rookie campaign in Houston.
"I couldn't be more excited to start my professional career with the Houston Dash," Rader said. "From my first conversation with the club, I could tell there was a shared belief and clear vision about where this team is going. I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the club and help this team reach its goals in the years ahead."
A member of Duke's NCAA College Cup squads over the past two seasons, Rader finished her Blue Devil career with 32 goals and 20 assists. She started 61-of-65 matches over the last four seasons. Rader finished her career ranking fifth in game-winning goals (13), seventh in goals (32) and seventh in points (84) in Blue Devil lore.
"We are thrilled to welcome Kat to Houston following a remarkable career at Duke University," President of Women's Soccer,
Angela Hucles Mangano, said. "Kat's proven goal-scoring ability and competitive nature stood out throughout her collegiate career, and we believe she has the talent and drive to make an impact at the next level. She's a great fit for the culture we're building in Houston, and we're excited to see how she develops with the guidance of our technical staff."
In 2025, Rader had her most complete season of her collegiate career, totaling 12 goals and 12 assists as she moved more to the midfield for first-year head coach
Kieran Hall. She was a Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy semifinalist, United Soccer Coaches All-America, NCAA College Cup All-Tournament team selection and ACC All-Tournament team honoree as a senior.
The 2022 ACC Freshman of the Year, Rader scored 12 goals for the Blue Devils as a rookie and earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors.
Rader will join Houston Jan. 19 as the squad prepares for the 2026 NWSL regular season.
With Rader's signing, Duke has sent six Blue Devils to the NWSL over the last two years – Graham, Hannah Bebar (Bay FC), Leah Freeman (Bay FC), Ella Hase (Racing Louisville) and Mary Long (Kansas City).
