DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women's soccer tandem of
Sam Courtwright and
Daya King have received the call from United States Soccer, as the duo have been invited to attend a U.S. National Team Development Camp Jan. 17-25 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
The invitations came from the U.S. Women's Youth National Team staff and invited 24 players to take part in the camp running concurrently with the U.S. Women's National Team.
U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team head coach Heather Dyche will run the camp with all the other women's and girls' YNT head coaches serving as assistants.
Courtwright, a native of Dallas, Texas, has experience with the U.S. Soccer as she was named to the 2024 U-20 USYNT roster, but was forced to miss the event due to injury. She also trained with the U-20 squad in 2024 leading into the World Cup. Courtwright played the last three seasons with Texas Tech
, before transferring to Duke in December. She notched 15 assists and nine goals for 33 points in her career with the Red Raiders.
King has been a fixture with U.S. Soccer over the years and represented the U.S. at the 2024 U-17 FIFA Women's World Cup. She was a member of the U.S. U-16 and U-15 national teams as well. King, who is from Moreno Valley, California, started all 22 matches she played in as a rookie with the Blue Devils in 2025, while leading Duke to 11 shutouts as a team and only allowing one goal through five NCAA Tournament contests.
The roster features players from six different birth years – 2003 through 2008 – with 11 of the players age-eligible for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Six of the players have represented the USA in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
