Freeman Inks Deal with S.S. Lazio Women 2015 in Italy

DURHAM, N.C. — Former Duke women's soccer All-American goalkeeper Leah Freeman has signed a professional contract with S.S. Lazio Women 2015 A.R.L., a historic Italian club based in Rome.
The club competes in Serie A Women, Italy's top professional women's soccer league.
Freeman, who was the starting goalkeeper at Duke during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, opened the 2026 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) season as the starter for San Diego Wave FC. She helped lead the Wave to a 5-1 record and made eight saves in six matches. Freeman also posted a pair of shutouts during that stretch.
In her final season with the Blue Devils, Freeman helped lead Duke to the NCAA College Cup and the ACC regular-season title, while registering seven shutouts, 18 victories, 52 saves and a 0.78 goals-against average. Freeman was recognized for her outstanding season by earning United Soccer Coaches All-America honors, ACC Goalkeeper of the Year, First Team All-ACC, College Sports Communicators Academic All-America recognition and First Team All-Region honors.
Freeman and her Lazio Women's squad will open the season Aug. 23 against Napoli Women.
