DURHAM, N.C. – Three Blue Devils fired under-par rounds to put host Duke atop the leaderboard after Friday's opening round of the Rod Myers Invitational at Duke University Golf Club.
In the Blue Devils' debut under head coach
Bob Heintz, senior
Ethan Evans paced Duke with a 4-under-par 68, carding four birdies in a six-hole stretch and closing with six straight pars to sit in a tie for fourth place individually.
Classmate
William Love posted a team-best six birdies en route to a 3-under 69, good for sixth place. Junior
Bryan Kim added a 2-under 70 to join the top 10 in seventh.
Sophomore
John Hiller contributed a 75 to round out Duke's opening total of 282, giving the Blue Devils a one-stroke edge over UNCW (283). Lipscomb (285), Indiana (286) and Liberty (292) round out the top five.
Duke's
Daniel Choi and
Sam Mukherjee secured even-par scores on Friday, and are tied for third place among the individuals competing in the John H. Ryan Memorial.
Ollie Mukherjee and
Alexander Weinberg, who played his final five holes at 4-under-par, each tallied scores of 73 to hold the seventh position on the individual leaderboard.Â
