The event honors the late
Rod Myers, who guided Duke men's golf from 1973 until his passing in 2007. A two-time ACC Coach of the Year, Myers led the Blue Devils to 30 tournament wins, the 2005 ACC Championship and seven NCAA appearances while mentoring 16 All-Americans and nine Academic All-Americans. Duke's golf training center and an endowed athletic scholarship bear his name.
The John H. Ryan Memorial honors former Blue Devil
John H. Ryan, Jr., a two-year letterwinner who passed away in a boating accident before his junior year in 1983. Remembered for his sportsmanship, talent and character, Ryan was named to Golf Magazine's 1979 All-American Junior Golf Team.Â
