DURHAM, N.C. – Duke redshirt senior running back Jaquez Moore was selected to the preseason watch list for the Doak Walker Award, an honor given to the nation's most outstanding running back.
The Live Oak, Florida, native enters 2025 having played in 40 career games with four starts. He has rushed 232 times for 1,280 yards (5.52) with 12 touchdowns. Moore has added 14 receptions for 149 yards (10.64).
Moore returns for 2025 after playing in just five games last fall after suffering multiple injuries during the campaign. He started weeks one and two against Elon and Northwestern, respectively, before suffering an injury against the Wildcats that essentially shelved him until the regular season finale at Wake Forest. Last fall, Moore totaled 32 rushes for 86 yards (2.69) and a TD.
The Doak Walker Award is named for SMU's three-time All-American running back Doak Walker. The PwC SMU Athletic Forum Board of Directors will name 10 semifinalists in November. Three finalists, as voted on by the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee, will also be announced in November. The committee will cast a second vote in December to determine the recipient. The recipient of the 2025 Doak Walker Award will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards.
