NORMAN, Okla. – Five Duke men's golfers have been named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for the 2024-25 season, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Tuesday.
Kelly Chinn,
Ethan Evans,
Bryan Kim,
William Love and
Luke Sample all earned the recognition, marking the ninth consecutive year that multiple Blue Devils have appeared on the list and making Duke one of just 24 Division I programs to have at least five honorees.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically, must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2.
Chinn and Sample cap off their Duke careers having won the award in all three years they were eligible to do so. Kim earns his first recognition from the organization in his first year of being eligible, while Evans and Love, both rising seniors, receive the honor for the second consecutive season. The five also earned Academic All-ACC honors, which was announced in June.
Kim, an All-ACC selection for the 2024-25 season, led Duke in several major categories this season, including stroke average (71.44), score to par (+2) and average vs. par (+0.1). Kim finished his sophomore season with a career stroke average of 72.01, good for fifth all-time in the Duke record books, while his single-season stroke average of 71.44 ranks ninth in program history.
Evans picked up his first collegiate medalist honors at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, shooting a 9-under, 207, while helping the Blue Devils secure the team title at the same event. Chinn and Sample both played in 12 tournaments as seniors, with Chinn logging two top-five finishes and Sample post his season-best finish of second place at The Clerico. Love ended his junior campaign with eight appearances and tallied his best finish of the season with a 10th-place finish at The Hayt.
As a team, the Blue Devils earned a berth to an NCAA regional for the 10th consecutive season and Kim advanced to the NCAA Championship as an individual, where he played the first three rounds of stroke play at 6-over, 222.
