DURHAM, N.C. – Former Duke women's basketball marquee player Elizabeth Balogun and the Nigeria Women's National Team are gearing up to compete in the 2025 FIBA Women's AfroBasket, slated for July 26-August 3 in Côte d'Ivoire.
Members of Group D, Nigeria opens action July 26 against Rwanda (10:30 a.m. ET) before closing out group play against Mozambique at 11 a.m., ET. All games are available for streaming on Courtside 1891 with a subscription.
A key piece for the Blue Devils from 2021-23, Balogun started 51 of the 63 games she played and averaged 9.3 points and 4.8 rebounds on 47-percent shooting from the field. She eclipsed the 1,000-point threshold during the 2021-22 season, achieving the feat during Duke's 58-49 win at Miami (Jan. 18).
The Lagos, Nigeria standout is no stranger to the international stage, having competed for Nigeria in the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games. In the 2023 AfroBasket, she put up 10.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 blocks en route to helping lead Nigeria to its fourth consecutive title at the event.
