CLEVELAND - Duke Athletics finished the 2024-25 campaign ranked 10th in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings announced Thursday by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, representing the Blue Devils' best finish since 2018-19 and most points since 2013-14. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in the NCAA Championships.
Highlighted by the 166 combined points (83 each) achieved by women's soccer and men's basketball for reaching the national semifinals, Duke secured 1,010.00 total points to finish third among ACC schools. The Blue Devils have finished in the top 30 all but twice in the 31 years since the Directors' Cup standings were first presented in 1993-94.
The other Blue Devil teams scoring points included women's basketball (73), women's tennis (73), women's lacrosse (70), field hockey (65), fencing (64.5), baseball (64), women's swimming & diving (53), softball (50), men's tennis (50), men's soccer (50), men's indoor track & field (46), men's lacrosse (45), men's golf (40), men's outdoor track & field (38.5), women's outdoor track & field (37) and football (25).
Duke was joined in the top 10 by Stanford (3rd) and North Carolina (4th). Virginia (12th), NC State (20th), California (24th), Florida State (28th), Notre Dame (36th), Louisville (37th), Wake Forest (41st), Virginia Tech (45th), and Clemson (47th) followed to give the ACC 12 institutions among the top 50. It marked the 23rd consecutive year that four or more ACC schools placed among the top 30 in the final rankings.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Nineteen total teams can earn points for the final standings, four of which must be baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball and volleyball.
