Duke is one of three schools with both a top-10 cornerback and a top-10 safety in PFF's rankings, joining Texas and Alabama. Rivers checks in as the No. 5 corner heading into 2025 while Moore is No. 7 among safeties. Last fall, Rivers tied with Texas' Jahdae Barron for the best PFF grade (90.7) among Power Four cornerbacks. Moore led all Power Four safeties last year with a 90.1 PFF grade. Safety Caleb Weaver arrived this summer after graduating from Sam Houston State. He was eighth among FBS safeties last season with an 89.0 PFF run-defense grade.
Rivers, who received All-America accolades from four publications in 2024, was named to ESPN.com's 2025 Way-Too-Early All-America Second Team and is an Athlon Sports Preseason All-America Second Team selection. The Beaumont, Texas, native is the No. 7 defensive back nationally entering the fall, according to ESPN.com. Moore, a three-time Academic All-ACC honoree, earned a place on the 2025 On3 top-100 players list (No. 63). The Washington, N.C, product was a Second Team All-ACC selection in 2024. Weaver is a College Sports Network top-100 returning player for 2025. In 34 career games (31 starts), he has registered 167 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, six interceptions, three fumble recoveries, two caused fumbles, 11 pass breakups and two QB pressures. A native of Houston, Texas, Weaver was a First Team All-CUSA selection in 2024 while helping the Bearkats to their first bowl appearance in program history with a 31-26 victory in the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
