DURHAM, N.C. - Former Duke cornerback Joshua Pickett has agreed to terms with the Denver Broncos to join the NFL organization as an undrafted free agent.
Pickett played in 50 career games with 23 starts and recorded 101 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, two interceptions, one caused fumble and 16 pass breakups. The Demorest, Ga., product was a three-time Academic All-ACC selection (2022-23-24) and two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree (2022-23).Â
As a senior in 2024, Pickett saw action in all 13 games and started 12. He registered 38 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one interception, one caused fumble and seven pass breakups. He posted seven games with three or more tackles, including a season-high six at NC State. He secured his lone interception against Virginia Tech on Senior Night. His performance helped Duke rank among the NCAA leaders in tackles for loss per game (second/8.9), fumbles recovered (second/14), sacks per game (fourth/3.3), turnovers gained (seventh/27) and turnover margin (24th/+0.62).Â
In 2023, Pickett saw action in all 13 games, making one start against Virginia. He registered 17 tackles, one INT and two pass breakups. During the 2022 campaign, Pickett was the recipient of the team's Mike Suglia Award, which is presented annually to a second-year member of the Duke football program who best exemplifies the qualities of the late Mike Suglia. That year he experienced action in all 13 games, making nine starts. He tallied 41 tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, 1.0 sack and a team-best seven pass breakups.Â
During his rookie year of 2021, Pickett appeared in 11 games and registered five tackles.
Pickett graduated from Duke in December 2024 with a degree in public policy and a certificate in markets and management.Â
