DURHAM, N.C. – No. 22 Duke softball continues its five-game road swing with a single non-conference matchup against UNC Wilmington at Boseman Field Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
The Blue Devils are coming off a 4-0 week after an 11-0 run-rule victory over East Carolina and a conference series sweep over Louisville. In Sunday's series finale at Louisville, Duke's offense came out firing in the top of the first, posting 10 runs off seven hits and three Cardinal errors. The Blue Devils scored 10 runs in an inning for the first time since their 10-run frame against UNC Greensboro on April 14, 2024. Junior
Aminah Vega continues to power the offense this season, leading the team in batting average (.436), hits (51), doubles (13) and total bases (78) through 37 games.
UNC Wilmington (21-12, 7-5 CAA) carries a six-game winning streak into the midweek matchup after sweeping North Carolina A&T and Monmouth in back-to-back conference series. UNCW has outscored its opponents 53-6 over its last six games, including a 28-2 margin last weekend at Monmouth. Offensively, UNCW is led by sophomore Madison Biddle, hitting .411 with six home runs and 24 RBI on the season. In the circle, classmate Makayla Huddleston leads the pitching staff with her 1.93 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 83.1 innings. She holds an 11-5 record after 19 appearances on the year.
