DURHAM, N.C. – In her 30th season as the head coach of the Duke women's lacrosse team, Kerstin Kimel has reached 350 wins with the Blue Devils.
"I've been very fortunate to coach at a premier institution in the ACC and in the country," Kimel said. "I feel very fortunate and very blessed."
She achieved the milestone with Sunday's triumph over Xavier, securing a 16-9 victory. The Blue Devils have started their 2025 season with a 4-2 overall record and a solid 1-1 mark in conference play. Duke earned its first conference win of the season on Feb. 28, defeating No. 17 Notre Dame 11-9.
Kimel currently ranks sixth among active Division I women's lacrosse coaches in total wins. She is one of just eight active Division I women's coaches to surpass the 350-win mark and one of 13 to exceed 300 career victories.
Kimel began her coaching career at Davidson, where she posted a 4-8 record in her lone season before becoming the head coach of Duke for its inaugural season.
Since taking the helm at Duke, she has earned ACC Coach of the Year honors five times, been named IWLCA Regional Coach of the Year, WomensLax.com Coach of the Year, and received both the IWLCA Diane Geppi-Aikens Memorial Award and the IWLCA Service Award. Under her leadership, the Blue Devils have made 21 NCAA Tournament appearances, reached the national semifinals seven times, won the ACC Tournament Championship in 2005 and claimed four ACC regular-season titles.
The Blue Devils travel to South Carolina for a conference matchup against Clemson March 8 at noon.
