DURHAM, N.C. – After competing at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Team Indoor Championships, the No. 15 Duke men's tennis team will kick off ACC play this weekend. The Blue Devils will host the No. 5 Virginia Cavaliers (8-2) Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. at the Ambler Tennis Stadium, and on March 2, they will face the No. 41 Virginia Tech Hokies (8-3) at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center at noon.
RANKED NO. 15 AS A TEAM
Duke ranked No. 15 in the ITA rankings, as announced Feb. 24. Other ACC schools included in this week's top 50 include No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 5 Virginia, No. 6 Stanford, No. 10 NC State, No. 17 Cal, No. 23 Miami, No. 31 Clemson, No. 41 Virginia Tech, No. 43 Florida State and No. 50 Notre Dame.
Individually, junior
Pedro Rodenas ranks No. 30 in singles, sophomore
Cooper Williams ranks No. 72 and junior
Sam Landau ranks No. 77.
In doubles, the Blue Devils have three pairings nationally ranked. Williams and graduate student
Theo Winegar rank No. 13, Landau and graduate student
Andreja Petrovic come in at No. 36 and Rodenas and junior
Gerard Planelles Ripoll place No. 65.
ITA National Team Indoors Highlights
The Blue Devils competed in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships last time out. They lost a back-and-forth match in the first round to No. 7 San Diego 4-3. In their next two consolation matches, they fell to Baylor 4-2 and No. 8 Columbia 4-1. Despite the tough losses, the Blue Devils saw great individual performances from the doubles team of Winegar and Rodenas, who went 2-1 over the three contests. In the Baylor match, they beat the No. 12 Bears' pairing Marko Miladinovic and Oskar Brostrom Poulsen 6-4. In the Columbia match, they beat No. 48 Nicolas Kotzen and Michael Zheng, 6-4.
In singles, senior
Connor Krug made a huge comeback in the San Diego match against Stian Klaassen. Krug came back from a one-set deficit to force a deciding third set. He took a 2-0 lead before falling behind to Klaassen 2-5 but rallied with five consecutive games to win the set 7-5 and his match. Graduate student
Remy Dugardin went 2-0 in singles play, posting straight-set wins in both of his matches. He earned wins over the Toreros' Neo Niedner and Columbia's Thanaphat Boosarawongse.
HISTORY WITH VIRGINIA
Friday's match will be the 103rd time these two teams have met with Duke owning the 52-50 series' history. The two teams met three times last season, and Virginia posted wins in all the matches. The Blue Devils' last win over the Cavaliers was a 4-3 close match during a home match in the 2017-18 season.
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Virginia is 8-2 in season and recently made it to the quarterfinals at the ITA National Team Indoors. At ITA Indoors, UVA posted a 4-2 win over Michigan in the first round and fell to No. 3 Texas 4-1 in the quarterfinals.
HISTORY WITH VIRGINIA TECH
Duke and Virginia Tech meet for the 39th time in series history. The Blue Devils lead the series, 32-6, and the last win was last season at home where the Blue Devils came out on top 5-2. Duke has won six of the last 10 meetings with the Hookies, four of which were played in Durham.

After this weekend's ACC opening matches, the Blue Devils take on No. 50 Notre Dame March 7 at 4 p.m. and Louisville March 9 at noon.
