CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke track and field freshman
Braelyn Baker has been tapped the ACC Women's Indoor Freshman of the Week after following a stellar showing at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational this past weekend.
Baker etched her name in program lore three times courtesy standout performances in the women's 200m, 400m and 4x400m relay events. The rookie helped slot the 4x400m relay atop the Duke charts, clocking 3:32.02 to shatter the previous record set in 2015.
She continued her breakout freshman campaign with two more revisions to the program record books, finishing runner-up in the women's 200m (purple) behind a dash of 23.38 seconds – No. 2 all-time at Duke – while the 400m race saw Baker move to No. 4 all-time after sprinting 52.94 seconds.
Baker is the second Blue Devil in as many weeks to earn a weekly conference honor. She joins
Lauren Tolbert, who was crowned the ACC Women's Indoor Track Performer of the Week Feb. 11.
Duke features a split squad to close out the indoor regular season. The Blue Devils are set to compete next weekend at the BU Terrier DMR Challenge (Feb. 21) and the Virginia Tech Challenge (Feb. 21-22).
