DURHAM, N.C. – No. 7 Duke men's tennis is set to make its 25th appearance at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships from Feb. 14-18. The Blue Devils will play in Waco, Texas, as the fourth seed.
On Friday at 4:30 p.m. EST Duke will face fifth-seeded San Diego at the Jim and Nell Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center on the campus of Baylor University. The Blue Devils are one of eight teams in the Waco pod. The Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex, located on SMU's campus, will serve as the host site for the semifinals and finals of the tournament, as well as the other eight teams.
The winner of the Duke and San Diego match will advance to face either top-seeded TCU or eight-seed Baylor on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. EST in the quarterfinals.
TOURNAMENT INFO
As a single-elimination tournament, teams will play one match each day, with the championship match scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m. EST. However, all teams are guaranteed to play at least three matches over the weekend through either the main or consolation draw.
There will be PlaySight streams and iOnCourt live scoring for every match at the 2025 Division I Men's Indoor Championship. The ITA will provide on-site commentary throughout the tournament, and fans can watch the broadcast on the ITA YouTube channel.
ITA NATIONAL TEAM INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Blue Devils are returning to the premier indoor event after an appearance last season. Duke holds an all-time record of 33-35 at the tournament and has won at least two matches 11 times. The Blue Devils' best finishes have been semifinal trips in 2011, 2006, 2001, 2000, and 1999.
HISTORY WITH NO. 9 SAN DIEGO
The Blue Devils and Toreros have faced off six times, with Duke leading the series 5-1. Their last meeting took place during the 2018 season at the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Fort Worth, Texas, where the Blue Devils secured a 4-0 sweep. The two teams are no strangers to facing each other in tournament play. At the 2008 ITA All-America Championships, Blue Devil alum Reid Carleton defeated San Diego's Dean Jackson in straight sets. The following year, at the ITA All-American Championships, former Blue Devil Henrique Cunha defeated No. 16 Jackson in straight sets.
SCOUTING THE TOREROS
No. 9 San Diego boasts a 6-0 record and is home to three nationally ranked singles players and two nationally ranked doubles teams. In singles, the Toreros feature No. 2 junior Oliver Tarvet, No. 34 Savriyan Danilov and No. 94 redshirt junior Stian Klaassen. Their top doubles team, Tarvet and Klaassen, holds an impressive 11-1 record and is ranked No. 1 in the nation, while the duo of senior Iiro Vasa and Klaassen is ranked No. 56. At the 2024 ITA All-America Championships, Tarvet clinched a singles title and secured a doubles title alongside Klaassen. As a program, San Diego has made 18 appearances in the NCAA Tournament, with its most recent appearance in 2023. The Toreros are currently projected to finish first in the WCC this season.

After the ITA National Team Indoor Championships conclude, Duke will host No. 5 Virginia on Friday, Feb. 28, at 3 p.m. and Virginia Tech on Sunday, March 2, at noon.
