Duke Athletics' commitment to student-athlete care is made possible by the exceptional individuals who lead its programs. For decades, one of the most influential figures behind this effort has been Robert "Hap" Zarzour. Hap's tireless dedication, deep compassion, and steady presence have touched the lives of countless Blue Devils, often in moments of greatest need. His work exemplifies the values that define Duke's approach to student-athlete health and well-being. Under his leadership,
Duke Athletic Medicine has become one of the preeminent sports medicine programs in the country.
To honor Hap's incredible legacy, Eileen Brooks P'04 and Matt Brooks T'04, B'09, L'09 have established the
Robert "Hap" Zarzour Athletic Training Endowment, dedicated to supporting the operational needs of Duke Athletic Medicine. This fund strengthens a critical area of Duke Athletics, ensuring the highest standards of wellness and medical care for Duke student-athletes and frankly, beyond!
Here's where you come in! The Brooks family is challenging the Duke community to show their appreciation for the Duke Athletics Medicine staff and will generously match up to $600K towards this initiative. With this match, your gift will be doubled and will directly enhance the comprehensive health resources available to Duke student-athletes, paying tribute to a man who has given so much to the Duke community.
Together, we can honor Hap's continued legacy and invest in the future of Duke Athletics! If you are interested in learning more or making a leadership gift, please don't hesitate to contact the Iron Dukes office. Gifts can also be made online using the donation link below.
