Duke continues its busy week of action Wednesday Nov. 12, welcoming Norfolk State to Cameron Indoor Stadium for a 7 p.m., tipoff. The Spartans are 2-1 overall and coming off a 77-53 win over Virginia State.
Duke is coming off a commanding 91-48 victory over Holy Cross Sunday. Sophomore Toby Fournier scored 27 points to lead all scorers while Jordan Wood had a career-high 18 points in her first career start. Taina Mair was the floor general, posting seven points, seven rebounds, seven assists and zero turnovers.
Duke is in the middle of a stretch of four games in eight days. The Blue Devils play seven games in the span of 19 days this month. Wednesday's game will be the last inside Cameron Indoor Stadium until Dec. 4 when LSU visits Durham for the ACC/SEC Challenge.
Duke boasts a veteran squad this season, returning four starters, 10 letterwinners and nearly 70 percent of its scoring from a year ago. The Blue Devils are led by All-ACC Second Team selection Ashlon Jackson, reigning ACC Rookie of the Year Toby Fournier and three returning starters – ACC All-Defensive Team honoree Jadyn Donovan, Taina Mair and Delaney Thomas.
Duke supplements its experienced core with three newcomers, including 2025 McDonald's All-American Emilee Skinner. Redshirt sophomore Riley Nelson and redshirt freshman Arianna Roberson, who were also McDonald's All-America honorees and top-20 recruits, add incredible depth as they make their Duke debuts this season.
About Norfolk State / Series History
Duke and Norfolk State meet for the second time and the first time in the regular season. The Blue Devils defeated the Spartans, 95-48, in the 2002 NCAA Tournament in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Norfolk State enters Wednesday's contest with a 2-1 record after beating Virginia State Sunday, 77-53. The Spartans loss came in the season opener at Ole Miss - an 87-48 setback.
Jasha Clinton paces the offense with 20 points per game on 59 percent shooting. Da'Brya Clark and Anjanae Richardson round out the double-digit scorers with 16.0 and 12.2 points per game, respectively. Clinton also leads the team with 18 steals to lead the nation.
Jordan Wood is off to a hot start, averaging 12.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 2.0 assists per game after two outings. She is shooting 35 percent from the floor overall and 46 percent from distance.
In her first career start against Holy Cross, the junior forward registered a career-high 18 points, which included a career-high five three-pointers. Her five threes versus the Crusaders account for 26 percent of the 19 she's drained in her 52 games at Duke.
"Tainking" Care Of The Ball
Senior point guard Taina Mair has been excellent for the Blue Devils in the first two games, dishing 11 assists and committing only one turnover. The veteran guard leads the ACC and ranks third nationally in assist/turnover ration (11.0).
Mair opened the year with four assists and one turnover before dishing seven dimes against Holy Cross with zero giveaways.
The Boston native has improved her consistency each season at Duke and finished the 2025-26 campaign seventh in the ACC at 1.81.
