SINGAPORE – Duke women's golf freshman Rianne Malix turned in a tied for second placement at the World Amateur Team Championships as she carded a 9-under-par, 279, at the Tanah Merah Country Club in Singapore.
Representing her country of Philippines, Malixi totaled rounds of 70, 72, 67 and 70 over the four days to finish four strokes behind Ying Xi of China (275). Malixi carded 16 birdies over the 72 holes with only one bogey over her final two days.
As a country, Philippines finished tied for seventh with a 10-under-par ledger. The United States captured the title with an 18-under-par score.
Malixi will return to Durham and next compete with the Blue Devils on Oct. 17-19 at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, which will be contested at Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
