Barkate Added to Biletnikoff Award Watch List

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke graduate wide receiver Cooper Barkate was one of 11 student-athletes added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List. The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season's outstanding FBS receiver. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award.
In his first season at Duke, Barkate leads the Blue Devils with 26 receptions for a team-high 475 yards. He is also tied for the squad lead with four receiving touchdowns. Barkate ranks second in the ACC, and 13th nationally, in total receiving yards and is tied for the national lead in receiving TDs in conference games with four.
Barkate has helped Duke to a 3-0 start in ACC play as he has the offense clicking with a robust 42.7 points per league game. Duke leads all Power Four schools in points per conference contest. Barkate's efforts have guided the Blue Devils to the national lead in plays of 20 or more yards with 39 and the squad stands second nationally in plays of 30 or more yards with 21.

The Biletnikoff Award's semifinalists, three finalists and award recipient are selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of 600 prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners and other former receivers. Receivers are frequently added to the watch list as their season performances dictate. Actual, not potential, performance is the basis for inclusion on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List.
Recently, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation opened the 2025 FanVote. Every fan may vote once daily on the Biletnikoff Award FanVote page. The aggregate fan tally will be counted as one official vote to determine semifinalists, finalists (three) and the winner. In the closest contest in years, the FanVote tally provided the one-vote margin of victory for 2013 winner Brandin Cooks of Oregon State.
