DURHAM, N.C.—The Duke men's lacrosse team will begin the 2025 campaign as a top 10 team according to USA Lacrosse Magazine preseason rankings. The Blue Devils come in at No. 7 in the top 20 poll with the season just 18 days away.
Prior to the beginning of the 2025 campaign, the Duke men's lacrosse coaching staff will host a coaches clinic for lacrosse coaches of any level. The clinic will feature two sessions with an opportunity to watch the preseason scrimmage against Maryland in between.
A Look at the Preseason Poll
Two-time reigning NCAA Champion Notre Dame tops the poll while Syracuse and Princeton round out the top three, respectively. Cornell, Virginia and Maryland complete the top six according to the USA Lacrosse Magazine staff with input from coaches around the country.
Duke is set to take on eight of the top 20 during the regular season, including each of the top three. The Blue Devils also play No. 5 Virginia, No. 10 Denver, No. 12 Penn, No. 16 Michigan and No. 17 North Carolina.
Returning six starters and welcoming a talented group of newcomers via transfers and freshmen, the Blue Devils are poised for another successful season.
Andrew McAdorey and
Benn Johnston will lead the offense with graduate student transfers Eric
Malever and
Luke Grayum providing veteran experience to the attack unit. McAdorey has split his time as a Blue Devil between attack and midfield and Johnston returns following a standout rookie campaign.
Defensively,
Henry Bard and
Keith Boyer are returning starting long poles while
Jack Gray and
Aidan Maguire spearhead the rope unit.
Patrick Jameison will anchor the Blue Devils between the pipes after finishing ranked second in the ACC in goals against average and save percentage as a freshman.
