NEED TO KNOW
- After being at home since late August, the third-ranked Duke women's soccer team (5-1-0) will hit the road for the ACC opener at Clemson (4-2-2) on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field.
- Thursday's contest will be aired live on ACC Network with Jenn Hildreth (PXP) and Kacey White (Analyst) on the call.
- On the season, Duke has scored 20 goals by 12 different players.
- The Blue Devils have won five straight matches, which marks the longest winning streak since 2021. Under head coach Robbie Church, Duke has posted 13 winning streaks of five matches or more with the longest coming in 2017 with 19 in a row.
- Duke hits the road for the first time since Aug. 22 at Nebraska. The Blue Devils are 1-1 in road matches this year.
- Duke welcomed eight newcomers to the 2024 roster as head coach Robbie Church is in his 24th season in Durham. Church announced on July 22, 2024 he will be retiring at the end of the season and Duke will be promoting associate head coach Kieran Hall to head coach in 2025. Current assistant coach Carla Overbeck will move to associate head coach in 2025 as well.
STORYLINES/OTHER BLUE DEVIL NOTES
- Duke features a 485:48 shutout streak since allowing its lone goal of the season at Ohio State in the season opener. It marks the sixth-longest scoreless streak in program history.
- Blue Devil head coach Robbie Church is two wins away from reaching 300 victories at Duke.
- The Blue Devils are averaging 22.1 shots a match and outshooting opponents by a 133-31 margin.
- Duke has scored 20 goals the last five matches, while the Blue Devils scored a total of 15 goals a season ago in 16 contests.
- Duke's 4-0 win against UNCW was the 250th win in program history at home.
- The last time the Blue Devils dropped a season opener was in 2017. Duke went on to win 19 straight matches after the loss and made an appearance in the NCAA College Cup.
- Duke was shutout in the season opener for the first time since 2014, which was also a loss to Ohio State (1-0).
- The Blue Devils return 10 starters and 17 letterwinners from the previous season. Of the 15 goals scored in 2023, the Blue Devils return players that scored 13 of those led by Kat Rader (7), Carina Lageyre (2) and Katie Groff (2).
- Duke brought in four transfers for the 2024 campaign that feature excellent resumes. Hannah Bebar, Farrah Walters, Ella Hase and Mia Oliaro have combined to play in 141 matches with 132 starts, scored 48 goals, added 42 assists and notched 138 points over their careers.
- The Blue Devils were ranked No. 24 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches poll, which marked the ninth time out of the last 10 years Duke has been preseason ranked.
- The last time Duke head coach Robbie Church dealt with a losing season was in 2014 and the next year he led the Blue Devils to the 2015 NCAA College Cup.
- Duke will take its eight natives of California back to their home state in October for a week-long road trip to play Stanford (Oct. 10) and California (Oct. 13).
THE SERIES WITH CLEMSON
- Duke currently holds a 15-14-2 record in the series with Clemson.
- In matches played in Clemson, S.C., the Blue Devils hold a mark of 5-7-2 and last won there on Oct. 13, 2018, 3-2. Duke will play at Clemson for only the third time over the last seven years.
- Last time in Clemson, the Blue Devils and Tigers battled to a 0-0 draw.

- Duke will open ACC action on the road for the fifth straight year, while riding a four-match winning streak.
- Duke head coach Robbie Church owns an 11-8-4 ledger in ACC openers over his 23 years at Duke.
- The Blue Devils are on an 11-match unbeaten streak in ACC openers with a 8-0-3 record.
- In ACC openers on the road, Church owns an 8-4 record.
- Duke's last loss in an ACC opener was in 2012 at Florida State (0-1).
HIGH SCORING OFFENSE
- Since the season opener, the Blue Devils have tallied 20 goals in five matches.
- Duke has registered 20 goals over the first six games this season, which is tied for the fifth-most in program history -- 24 (2012), 23 (1989), 21 (1994, 2008), 20 (2024, 2021).
- The Blue Devils tallied four goals in the first half against Missouri. It was the most since Oct. 10, 2021 against ECU.
- The seven goals against Missouri were a season high for the Blue Devils and the most since Nov. 21, 2021 against St. John's (7).
- The 12 goals over the last two matches for the Blue Devils are the most since September of 2019 as Duke notched six goals in back-to-back contests against LSU and James Madison.
STRONG DEFENSE
- Over six matches, Duke has allowed only one goal against Ohio State in the season opener. The Blue Devils have posted five straight shutouts since then and features a 485:48 scoreless streak.
- Duke is one of only two ACC schools (Florida State) to only allow one goal this season.
- Looking nationally, Duke is one of only six schools to have allowed one or fewer goals on the year -- Auburn (0), Oklahoma State (0), Tennessee (1), Vanderbilt (1), Duke (1) and Florida State (1).
- The one goal allowed over the first six games to open a season is the fewest in program history -- 1 (2024), 2 (1988, 2005, 2011), 3 (seven tied).
- Duke's defense has allowed only five corner kicks in the last five matches as well.
- If the Blue Devils can post a shutout against Clemson, Duke will have six straight shutouts. The five straight shutouts currently is the most in a row since 2021. Duke's school record is seven in a row in 2004.

LACK OF SHOTS/CORNERS
- Duke's defense has only allowed 32 shots to open the season, which is the fewest allowed in the ACC (Florida State - 33).
- The 32 shots allowed is the tied for fifth fewest allowed in program history through six matches -- 25 (2017), 27 (2005), 29 (2021), 30 (2016), 32 (2024, 2022).
- The Blue Devils have allowed only 22 shots the last five matches for an average of 4.4 per game.
- Duke's five corner kicks allowed on the year are the fewest allowed over the first six games to open a season -- 5 (2024), 9 (2016, 2004), 10 (2017) and 11 (2008, 1994).
OFFENSIVE ATTACK
- For the first time under the direction of head coach Robbie Church, the Blue Devils attempted 20+ shots in the opening three matches to start a season.
- Duke's 22.2 shots per game average on the season currently ranks third in the ACC and tied for seventh nationally -- Florida State (28.7), Pitt (27.1) and Duke (22.2).

- In the NCAA stats, as a team Duke ranks tied for seventh in shots (22.2), sixth in assists per game (3.67), tied for fifth in goals-against average (.167), sixth in points per game (10.3), 10th in scoring offense (3.3), 12th in shots on goal per game (9.83), tied for sixth in shutout percentage (.833).
