DURHAM, N.C. – Duke graduate student wide receiver Jordan Moore was named to the 2024 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQB) Foundation, Inc., announced on Wednesday.
Entering his fourth season in Durham, Moore returns as the Blue Devils' starting wide receiver following a junior campaign that consisted of Second Team All-ACC honors. He recorded a team-leading 62 receptions and finished with 835 yards (13.47) to go along with eight touchdowns in 13 games. He concluded the season tied for fourth in the ACC for receiving touchdowns, fifth in receptions, sixth in receiving yards and seventh in receptions per game and receiving yards per game.
Moore enters the 2024 campaign as a preseason Second Team All-ACC selection by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele Publications. In 36 career games, 24 starts, he's logged 122 receptions for 1,491 yards (12.22) with 13 touchdowns and added 52 rushes for 256 yards (4.92) with three scores. Moore is one of just 18 Duke players to record a rushing, receiving and passing touchdown during a Duke career, after completing 9-of-19 pass attempts for 95 yards and one touchdown so far in his career. The Sykesville, Maryland, native is also riding a 26-game reception streak heading into the 2024 campaign.
The Biletnikoff Award is named after Fred Biletnikoff, a 6-1, 190-pounder with excellent hands and deceptive speed. He caught 589 passes for 8,974 yards and 76 touchdowns during his 14-year career with the Oakland Raiders from 1965 through 1978. At the time of his retirement, Fred not only dominated the Raiders' record book for pass receptions, but also owned several significant NFL marks as well. Along with another Hall of Fame receiver, Raymond Berry, Fred held the record for having caught 40-plus passes in 10 consecutive seasons. His 70 receptions, 1,167 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns in 19 post-season games were also NFL post-season career records.
The semifinalists, finalists, and award recipient are selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of 600 prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners, and other former receivers. The winner will be announced on Dec. 12 as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
Duke's 2024 season opener is slated for Friday, August 30 when it welcomes Elon to Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
